About Dupsy Abiola

Dupsy Abiola is a multi-dimensional leader, combining a rare blend of experiences as an executive, founder, investor, and board member. Building from a solid foundation in commercial law, she has embarked on a career spanning diverse industries and impactful roles.

After studying Law at Oxford, Dupsy was awarded the Lord Denning, Hardwicke, and Eastham Bar Scholarships, and began her career as a commercial barrister.  She worked on high value and complex technical cases including the defence and settlement of one of the UK’s largest ever construction claims.

Her entrepreneurial spirit ultimately led her to start her first tech company in her twenties.  She created an award-winning HR tech platform aimed at finding paid vocational placements for young people quickly attracting over 75k candidates from top UK institutions.  Deemed ahead of its time, her platform was awarded the Europa Award for Best Recruitment Start up in Europe, was a top tech finalist at competitions run by CISCO and Google, and was granted Innovate UK R&D Funding to develop proprietary machine learning matching algorithms blending profile data with psychometric and role scoring.

Dupsy has since held senior leadership roles at the forefront of impactful organisations like IAG (BA’s parent company) and Monzo (the UK’s leading digital bank). She is passionate about being a force for good, particularly in the area of sustainability and climate tech. She has accelerated over 75 commercial R&D projects - 20 of which focused on climate technologies ranging from ESG reporting to food waste reduction.  She has also championed investments in ground-breaking climate tech companies like ZeroAvia (hydrogen flight pioneers) and Lanzajet (the world’s first ethanol to sustainable aviation fuel plant).  Projects that her teams have worked on and supported have driven meaningful progress towards strategic ESG goals as well as driving significant cost and operational efficiencies.  The climate start ups and scale ups, she has supported have raised over $1.2B in funding.

Beyond her executive roles, her thought leadership is highly sought-after, and she has given keynotes at top conferences and held advisory positions like Global Futures Council leader for the World Economic Forum. She has received a number of awards and has been recognised as a top 100 UK Tech leaders from a minority background by the Financial Times and Computer Weekly.

Outside her executive work, she sits on the board of Essentra, a FTSE 250 global manufacturer, while also guiding high-growth start-ups and under-represented founders as an advisor and mentor. She is committed to driving transformational change that creates a better future for both people and the planet and is an active member of the tech and broader business community.

Born and raised in London, Dupsy is deeply proud of her Yoruba heritage. The daughter of Chief MKO Abiola, a celebrated African entrepreneur and democratic leader, she carries forward his legacy of pursuing progress with purpose, courage, and an unwavering sense of humour.
